God has His own way of doing things. Even though our nation has become quite secular, political and self-reliant, in history we have passed through several seasons during which God has reasserted His ways. These have been called spiritual awakenings.

If we examine seasons of spiritual awakening-going clear back to the ancient Celtic church in Britain, and to the desert fathers of the Eastern Church-we find there are three distinct parts to God’s plan for nations:

• 1.Intensive prayer (Acts 1:13-14)
• 2.Spiritual awakening from the outpouring of God’s Spirit during “times of refreshing from the presence of the Lord” (Acts 3:19)
• 3.The transformation of social structures as Jesus makes His will known to awakened people. This happens not by government interference, but because Jesus the true King is writing His laws on the hearts of many people one by one.

This is a uniquely Christian vision and method for social change. It is called the Kingdom of God. It is how Jesus asserts His Kingly will during the present Church age.

vision of prayer that guides our prayer here at The Clearing.
